Is It Time to Upgrade Your Honeywell Fire Alarm System?

Honeywell’s NOTIFIER product line.

Avoid Obsolescence & Downtime with an Updated Honeywell System

You don’t want to find yourself in this scenario: your facility’s Honeywell fire alarm system goes down, and you call for a repair or replacement, only to find that the defective component is no longer supported by Honeywell. Even worse, its new panels, detectors, and modules no longer work with your legacy system.

Now what? You could scour the internet or call multiple vendors for a used part, but who knows if you’ll be able to find it? Even if you do locate the right part, it’s only a matter of time until this happens again.

If your organization’s Honeywell fire alarm system is fifteen to twenty years old, it’s time to migrate to a new system. Sciens upgrades Honeywell systems nationwide, including NOTIFIER, Gamewell-FCI, Silent Knight, Farenhyt, and Fire-Lite systems. Keep reading to learn why it’s worth upgrading today with Sciens.

Why Now’s the Time to Upgrade Your Honeywell Fire System

Honeywell’s fire alarm systems have advanced tremendously in recent years, with new technology including:

  • Remote monitoring to improve first time repair rates
  • Internet and cellular communication
  • Upgradable firmware
  • Integrated voice and mass notifications
  • Upgraded annunciator displays allowing your facility to easier determine the status of your fire alarm system
  • Expanded system capacity
  • And more

As its fire alarm technology improved, Honeywell gradually phased out support and production of older devices. In 2018, Honeywell stopped offering several of its Silent Knight fire alarm control panels (5700, 5808, 5820XL, and 5820XL-EVS) and replaced them with the new 6000 Series.

In 2022, Honeywell also discontinued many of its legacy Fire-Lite control panels. And for NOTIFIER and GWFCI users, Honeywell officially phased out Ivory detectors 2024. While many new replacement control panels are backward compatible with legacy systems, we estimate this will eventually no longer be the case as technology continues to advance.

Benefits of Upgrading Now

Eventually, there will be no choice but to migrate to a new Honeywell fire alarm system. Here’s why you’ll be glad you did it sooner rather than later:

  • Modernize for Greater Efficiency: Newer alarm systems feature remote monitoring, letting your team review and identify problems via smartphone or computer before arriving on-site. You’ll resolve issues more swiftly and be in-the-know, even if no one’s on the premises.
  • Test Without Disruption: Honeywell’s new self-testing detectors automatically perform their own maintenance tests. The detectors introduce small amounts of smoke and heat to sensors, and can also test if entry points are blocked by dust. Now, you won’t have to disrupt building occupants for testing; it’s all done discreetly and automatically.
  • Save in the Long Run: Scarcity is expensive, and if your legacy system needs parts that are no longer manufactured or supported, you may have to pay a hefty price to find those replacements. By switching now to Honeywell’s newer, online-based systems, you’re gaining years of reliability and superior performance.
